The following amendments to NIS by-laws was presented to the general assembly by Sr.Iman (Chairwoman of the Board)

1. ARTICLE VIII – MEMBERSHIP – PARAGRAPH 1 – (Last Sentence) – Page 9
As reads: “Members need to live within a 25 mile radius of Norristown Islamic Society.”
To read: “Members need to live within a 50 mile radius of Norristown Islamic Society.”

2. ARTICLE IX – ELECTIONS – PARAGRAPH 5, SUBPARAGRAPH a) – Qualifications Required of Nominated/Elected – Page 9
As reads: “The nominee shall be an American citizen, or possess a valid permanent residency status, and shall have the experience, qualifications, Islamic knowledge, management skills, time to attend attend meetings, and energy to fulfill the responsibilities as a selected Operating Council member or a Board of Trustees member.”
To read: “The nominee is not required to be an American citizen or possess a valid permanent residency status. However, they must have legal status to reside in this country. They shall have the experience, qualifications, Islamic knowledge, management skills, time to attend meetings, and energy to fulfill the responsibilities as a selected member of the Operating Council or elected member of the Board of Trustees.”
